Thiaucourt American graveyard is open to the public every day

Summer visiting hours: from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.during the week and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on saturdays, sundays and public holidays.

Winter visiting hours: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. during the week and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on saturdays, sundays and public holidays.

Thiaucourt American graveyard contains 4153 burial places and 117 tombs of unknown soldiers who died during the reduction of the Saint-Mihiel salient in Septembre 1918.

Montsec monument

This monument erected at the top of Montsec hill commemorates the conquest of the Saint-Mihiel salient by the American 1st army in september 1918 and the battles waged by the 2nd army from Nov. 9 to Nov.11, 1918 MONTSEC1.gif (7038 octets)
THIS MONUMENT HAS BEEN ERECTED BY THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA TO COMMEMORATE THE CAPTURE OF THE ST-MIHIEL SALIENT BY THE TROOPS OF HER FIRST ARMY AND TO RECORD THE SERVICES OF THE AMERICAN EXPEDITIONARY FORCES ON THE BATTLEFRONT IN THE REGION AND ELSEWHERE IN LORRAINE AND ALSACE.
IT STANDS AS A LASTING SYMBOL OF THE FRIENSHIP AND COOPREATION BETWEEN THE FRENCH AND AMERICAN ARMIES.
